Gantry cranes are used in a wide range of activities to reduce or even eliminate the arduousness of certain handling operations. Lifting, moving, assembling, dismantling, loading, unloading, etc. are all occasional or regular tasks that may require the use of a gantry crane.
A gantry crane is generally made up of 2 parallel rails, possibly 3 in some cases, one or more mobile rails or rolling beams, and an independent or overhead support structure. A hoist, balancer, gripper or specific tool completes the gantry's composition.
The payload and dimensions of the gantry are adapted to each situation, as are the column positions in case of steel structure.
